Nina Dobrev Dressed

When you hear Elie Saab, visions of sweeping chiffon and glimmering gowns come to mind, so we were understandably surprised to learn this Nina Dobrev Dressed came from the master of classic romance. It's cute, yes, and the color is right on-trend, but we prefer when Nina brings on the glamour.

We have chosen our fair share of ladies to obsess over this year, and Nina Dobrev is one of them. Aside from making our Best Red Carpet Dresses of 2011 list in an absolutely TO-DIE red gown that officially secured her a spot on pretty much every best-dressed list, we also praised her green People’s Choice Awards dress (which she wore to catch a commercial flight directly afterward, choosing to de-glam it with a coat and boots), and are insanely excited to catch her in the upcoming teen flick, The Perks of Being a Wallflower. She’s a hot commodity these days, and the fine folks over at Nylon agree, as they’ve chosen her as their February 2012 cover girl. In a genius move that makes (some of) us here at MTV Style remember our Texas roots, they’ve styled the Vampire Diaries star in the snazziest, punked-out, Scorpion-adorned western wear you’ve ever seen. Oh, and they got her to dish about everything from cat calendars to her former co-star, Drake too.

Nina Dobrev Dressed

A shiny metallic blue and silver McQ by Alexander McQueen leather jacket, black and white piped Emporio Armani blouse, and Siwy denim shorts with fringe detailing—this look is not your typical cowgirl. We know not everyone is into the western look, but y’all, this is more akin to modern disco cowgirl nighttime wear that we’re desperate to wear to a dance party, complete with neon feather hair pieces and rings from Pamela Love and Lee Angel. Kudos to styling by Michelle Reneau and Beth Hoppe, who, seriously, are making us call our Texas moms right now to make sure they still have all that rodeo gear we might have thrown into a back drawer years ago. We’re talking fringed suede vests, cowboy hats, and anything Wild West related. You guys, look at this SCORPION BOLO TIE Nina’s wearing. YEEHAW, ARTHROPOD
